Fly home to Sydney

Our transport woes from yesterday continued this morning, this time with the shuttle bus that had been booked by our travel agent. A number of us, who are on the same package waited in the foyer for the bus to arrive at 9am. We were told to be there waiting by 8.45am. At 9.15 am a shuttle bus arrived, and the driver knew nothing about us, rang her office, and was told that there was a separate bus coming to get us. There was no way we were letting her go without taking us, so she reluctantly let 6 of us onboard, and reported back to her office that she was taking us. Once checked in at the airport, and through very stringent security, everything else went smoothly. We eventually landed in Sydney at 9.40 pm, and we’re home by 11pm. Overall it was a great holiday.

Our holiday is coming to an end and we fly back to Sydney tomorrow, via Perth,  so it will be a long day. Today is a free day, and after our excellent tour yesterday afternoon, we are not sure what else there is to see in Broome. So we opt to buy a day ticket on the explorer bus ( hop on hop off), which covers a range of stops around Broome at half hour intervals. We should have been suspicious when the first bus arrived a bit late. It didn’t get better from there, with bus breakdowns and air conditioning failures, the half hour schedule blew out to an hour leaving people stranded at bus stops all over Broome. There office sent all phone calls to a mail box obviously not wanting to confront angry customers. Nevertheless, we stopped in Chinatown, and spent around an hour there walking around to see it in more detail.   There wasn’t a lot more to see, lots of shops, banks, a few pubs and lots of pearl shops and jewellers. This pub is huge and almost occupies a whole street...
